Dear Sir,
I was really impressed with how God has used you to improve the lives of all your children but primarily your adoptive children. I am also impressed how God has used the act of adoption to address issues in your life that needed addressing.

My wife, Joanne and I are in the beginning process of adopting a child. God has put adoption on our hearts and has made it very clear that this is His will. (He has a very unmistakable way of making things clear to us!!) I too expect God has “blessings” in mind for our family and the child (or children) and through His grace we will be able to glorify Him in our actions and words.

Joanne and I have divorces in our backgrounds but have dedicated our lives to Christ. Between us we have 7 kids (only three live with us) and being in our 50′s we have had friends look at us with unbelief with our decision to adopt. We want to make a difference in some childs life – to show a child or children that God is in control and we must be obedient to His will.

May God continue to bless you in your ministry and may you continue to seek God’s plan in your lives.

Thank you for your testimony – it was truely a blessing to Jo and I.

Love is color blind and there is simply no substitute for it. I don’t think it matters at all what race an adopted child is, nor the race of the adopting couple. All the child requires to become a balanced and valuable member of society is adequate love and the opportunity to hear the word of God !!
Love in the bible is arguably the single most powerful force in life.

Thank you for including “older child” adoption in your interviews! I (we) can echo so much of what Mark A. has said as we adopted our daughters five years ago at ages 9 & 12 1/2 (now 14 and 17 1/2) internationally.

The gospel has been and must be central to our parenting–adoptive or non-adoptive. To the “former orphan” God’s sovereign choosing and adopting provides such a clear illustration (and contrast) of what family is to be. I remember a conversation VERY early in our days together when we were talking about “love” and asking them what they thought it meant. At one point our oldest asked why we (my husband and I) love her, we jumped at that wonderful opportunity to drive home the point that we “chose” to love her long before we met her–based on nothing we knew of her! Add to that the fact that our love has remained through the “good” and the “bad” times (when in the past others abandoned her), and she has just a little glimpse of what God’s love is like!

And, Mark is SO right about God using (ordaining!!) the challenges and struggles with older adopted children to point out areas WE need to grow in, repent of, etc. My husband and I came to realize very early on that parenting was indeed one of God’s greatest tools in sanctification–as if marriage wasn’t enough to accomplish that! Ha!

Praying that God will use this interview to encourage other Chrisitans to consider older child adoption! Thanks for your ministry, I’ve been pointing lots of adoptive friends to your blog.
