I don't understand why someone would choose a "snowflake" over a child that is sentient and in more urgent need of a home. I understand that traditional adoption is a difficult process, and I do agree that the snowflake option is better than IVF. Also, I'm curious: does anyone here support embryonic stem cell research?

As a donating parent, I still have tremendous pain around the choice we made to allow another couple to adopt our embryo. The beautiful baby we had hoped for was born and we will know them from a distance much the way we imagine the birth mother of the first baby we adopted feels. It is due to a terrible mental illness in our second adopted child that we had to let our frozen embryos go. It would not have been safe to have a baby in our home. There are as many reasons as families for embryo adoption but it is rare that there is not anguish in donating family just as there is in the birth family of conventional adoptions.

I was touched by your story and as a "natural" mother of 1 (hoping to be more in the future), it makes me want to consider egg donation once my family is complete.

I could talk and write for hours...:) My husband and I went through 8 years of unexplained infertility. After 8 miscarriages and the 8 empty years, we were finially successful with embryo adoption. Having Timothy in 2005 has been the greatest experience of a lifetime. Love, Love, Love! I was 41 and husband 42. Then when I was 44, we gave birth to sweet, beautiful twin girls from egg donation and hubby's sperm. Again, Love, Love, Love. They are 2 1/2 now. Wow, what a journey! We have 5 beautiful children. The oldest who is 25 and the second is 24. If you ever want to tell your baby their story...go to www.xyandme.com there are good books to explain embryo adoption to your little one. God bless you and your family. Hugs, Karen & Perry Ferrero, Southern Calif.

This is a beautiful story, about a beautiful couple. There is no doubt in my mind that you will be wonderful parents to Bethany. Your failed attempts at pregnancy were not punishment for past sins. Instead, Bethany is your reward for standing for what is right and good. God is watching over you every minute of every day.
