Carolina Hope brings back Azerbaijan adoption program
During 2003 and 2004, Carolina Hope helped a few families adopt from Azerbaijan. In May of 2004, Azerbaijan temporarily suspended its intercountry adoption program, and this suspension lasted until late 2005. There were still significant delays with the program as it began again, but the situation has stabilized, and Carolina Hope is pleased to announce that we are once again able to process Azerbaijan adoptions.

This is a particularly good program for families who wish to adopt toddlers and older children, as well as children with special needs. There are sometimes babies in need of families who can be adopted internationally from Azerbaijan, but we recommend that families interested in adopting from Azerbaijan be open to a child up to three years old. As you may know, there is a great need for families who are called to adopt non-infants.
Most of the children available for adoption live in orphanages, where the conditions are typically pretty good. You will receive a referral of a child from Azerbaijan after your paperwork is registered there. We estimate that it will take 10 to 12 months, maybe more, to complete the adoption process from the time you begin the paperwork.
More information about the program, parent qualifications, and costs can be found at Carolina Hope’s Azerbaijan Adoption Program page. If you have additional questions, please contact Carolina Hope.
