We often hear that families who are considering a domestic adoption are afraid of an “open” adoption. In this 1-and-a-half-hour course, you will learn what an open adoption is, the possible benefits of openness, and when communication with birthparents is appropriate. By increasing your awareness of what openness is — and by being “open” to openness — you will probably increase the likelihood of having a successful adoption — and parenting — experience.

This webinar is presented by Laura Beauvais-Godwin, Carolina Hope’s director and co-author of The Complete Adoption Book. Laura is the adoptive mother of two daughters.

How to sign up

To sign up for this webinar, first click on the Pay Now link below (the course cost is $15). Once you have paid, you will be taken to a PayPal page that says “Thank you for your payment.” On that page, click on the orange button that says “Return to Carolina Hope Christian Adoption Agency.” That link will return you to this page.

Next, send an email to webinars@CarolinaHopeAdoption.org with the following subject line: “Sign up for openness in adoption webinar”. Please include your name in the body of your email, along with the date of the course you are signing up for.. This email should be sent at the latest by 5 p.m. on the day of the webinar.

After we have confirmed your payment, you will receive an email response with the information needed to join the webinar. (This email is different from the payment receipt you will receive by email from PayPal, which is for your financial records. The email with webinar information will come from an @ CarolinaHopeAdoption.org address.) Participation in the webinar requires a telephone and an internet connection.

Please note that the sign-up emails are handled personally by Carolina Hope staff. Therefore there will be a delay from the time you send your email until the time you receive a response. You should receive the email with necessary information at least one hour before the webinar is scheduled to begin.
