Carolina Hope offers regular workshops, in addition to conducting live online adoption education courses (webinars). On this page we also have information about other adoption educational opportunities available.

Monthly Carolina Hope Adoption Education

Introducing Domestic and International Adoption
first Tuesday of every month
next one: Tuesday, December 2, 2008 (7-9pm)

At this adoption workshop, Carolina Hope Christian Adoption Agency and the Law Office of Raymond W. Godwin will present basic information about international and domestic adoptions. Topics will include understanding the advantages of different adoption programs, preparing for the adoption home study, and educating yourself about adoption.

The workshop will be held at Carolina Hope’s office:

There is no cost. Please register by contacting us sometime between now and the day of the workshop at 5 p.m.

Carolina Hope plans to conduct a workshop like the one described above every month on the first Tuesday of the month, from 7-9pm.

North Carolina Workshop

Your Adoption Options: Embryo, Domestic, and International Adoptions

Topics will include embryo adoption, domestic adoption, and international adoption, as well as North Carolina adoption homestudies. Adoption Education at St. Francis Eastside

Adoption 202: International Adoption
November 18, 2008 (6:30 - 9 pm)

Pre-adoption education course meets Hague standards. Topics includes the core issues of international adoption, Post Institutional Effects (PIE), expectations and transition, children in orphanages and foster care, medical considerations, post-adoption support, resources, and more. 2.5 Credit Hours and certificates are available for families and certified investigators. The fee is $15 per family. The workshop is taught by Denise Hoppenhauer of ACES. Held at St. Francis Eastside. Call 864-675-4400 to register.

Adopting from Russia
November 8, 2008 (6:30 - 9 pm)

Taught by the Denise Hoppenhauer, the author of Adopting a Toddler, this class includes basic childcare information while addressing the unique need of adopted children from Russia. Child development, orphanage care, early days together, pre- and post-adoption resources, adoption travel, and more are also covered in this class. This course meets Hague standards for pre-adoption education. 2.5 Credit Hours/certificates are available for adoptive parents and certified investigators. The fee is $15 per family. Adoption 101: Beginning the Adoption Process
October 23, 2008 (6:30 - 9 pm)

Considering adoption? Learn about different types of adoption: domestic or international, the risk factors associated with each and which may be right for you. Topics include: which child can you parent, age as a factor, trans-racial adoption, medical considerations, how to compare programs, and red flags. 2.5 Credit Hours & certificates are available for families and certified investigators.
