Hague Accreditation through COA

Accredited!

Carolina Hope Christian Adoption Agency has achieved one-year temporary accreditation through the Council on Accreditation (COA).

Why “Temporary”?

Temporary accreditation is an option for smaller agencies (like Carolina Hope). We fully comply with most of the rigorous standards required by the Council on Accreditation, but did not incur the costs of a site visit or a few of the other expensive compliance measures that will be required for the next stage of accreditation (full accreditation). However, 1-year temporary accreditation in no way limits the services we can offer or our standing with the U.S. Department of State, which is the Hague-designated Central Authority in this country.

Future plans

Carolina Hope has a comprehensive plan for achieving full accreditation before our temporary accreditation expires, and we are taking steps to execute that plan.

Why even be accredited?

To quote the Department of State: “Only those adoption service providers who have been accredited, temporarily accredited, or approved by either COA or CO will be able to provide adoption services for Hague adoption cases after the Hague Convention on Intercountry Adoption enters into force for the United States on April 1, 2008.”

More about the Hague is available in this two-page press release from the Department of State, the U.S. Central Authority (USCA) with respect to adoptions conducted under the Hague.
